Monkey bread is a delicious sweet bread. Quite why it’s called monkey bread is somewhat of a mystery. Still, my favorite explanation is because you pick it apart and eat it like a monkey! I’m going to share some of my favorite monkey bread recipes with you now so that you can enjoy the delicious treat.

The ingredients required for each recipe will differ slightly depending on the flavor, however the basic equipment ended will remain the same. To bake monkey bread you will need the following equipment:
– Mixing bowls
– Bundt pan
– Saucepan
– Zester- Can Opener

1. Caramel Apple Monkey Bread

Caramel and apple are two flavours that work exceptionally well together and are perfect in monkey bread. To make this monkey bread you will need:
– 2 cups of apples – Granny Smiths are perfect
– 2 table spoons brown sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
– 2 table spoons of sugar- 2 cans of buttermilk biscuits

For the caramel sauce you will need:
– 2/3 cup brown sugar
– 1/4 cup butter
– 1/4 cup cream

Start by greasing the bunt pan with some extra butter, this will make it easier to release the monkey bread from the tin. Then put 2 table spoons of the brown sugar, with the cinnamon powder into a bowl. Put in all the apples except for half a cup which should be kept aside for later. Next you need to open up the buttermilk biscuits and cut into quarters. Squash each quarter flat and then put a piece of Apple inside. Fold the biscuit dough around the apple and seal. Repeat this until you have 64 little parcels each containing apple.

Next its time to prepare the caramel sauce. Put the butter, brown sugar and cream into a pan and heat. Simmer this gently until it’s all melted together. When cooked pour a third of the sauce into the Bundt pan. Then add some apples and add around 20 of the apple balls. Then pour in another third of the caramel sauce and continue in this fashion.bake the monkey bread from around 40 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

2. Orange Monkey Bread

To make an orange monkey bread cake you will need:
– 1 and 1/4 cup sugar
– 1/3 cup orange juice
– orange zest
– 1/4 cup butter
– 2 cans of biscuit dough

Use butter or cooking spray to grease the bundt tin. Mix together the zest of orange with sugar in a bowl. Melt the butter and put this in another bowl along with the orange juice. Take a piece of biscuit dough and dip it into the orange and butter mixture, then roll it in some of the sugar. After this put it into the greased tin. Repeat the process until you have a full tin. Next pour the left over orange juice mixture over the top of the biscuit balls.

As a finishing touch a glaze can be made by mixing together milk, sugar, vanilla extract and sugar. When the cake is cooled add the glaze and top with more orange zest.

Monkey bread is the ideal snack to make, it’s perfect for breakfast and just as a snack with a cup of tea. With so many different variations you are bound to find a recipe you will like.
